A means of rescue appliance will be mandatory on board RO/ RO passenger ships and is required to provide safe transfer of survivors from sea level to the deck level during rescue operations. The unit accommodates 18 persons lying down as stipulated by new SOLAS regulations. Weighing 146kg, the unit is stowed in a distinctive orange container and is provided with its own cradle.
